What can I expect if police searched my car and found drugs?

I was stopped in traffic for speeding. I was illegally searched. The car I was driving was not mine. They said that there is supposedly something in trunk (meth). The first day for court is coming up.

You need to have a lawyer representing you. Since you were driving the car - you had the keys. If no one else was in the car, then you had care, custody, and control of the car including the trunk. That is legal mumbo jumbo for there is a connection between you and the drugs because you could get to them. Depending on what else was in the trunk and other factors, it is possible the State could get a conviction that would stick. It is also a potentially defensible case. Get a good lawyer.

Hire an attorney to obtain the reports and see whether the search was actually illegal or whether you have an issue for trial concerning knowledge/intent.

If you were illegally searched then the drugs should be suppressed. But the DA is not going to listen to you on why it was illegal. You need a skilled attorney to argue your case to the DA.
